Participating
in Club events --

Getting started:

The Club is very informal. The basic rule for getting involved with Club activities is quite simple -- just show up! Either start attending meetings or participate in a paddle trip, or do both. Each option is explained below.

Attend a meeting --

The Club has periodic meetings with, typically, a main program related to kayaking and, often, secondary shorter programs. The meetings also are a forum for participating in Club projects (such as planning outing schedules) and allow members to visit off the water. Go to this Website's "Future Events" page for more information about meetings.

Go on an outing --

Everything necessary to participate in a Club paddle trip can be found on this Website (except a boat and gear). The primary Website page for outing-related information is the "Future Events" page. On that page, download or review the Club's current

long-term schedule to select a trip suitable to your skill level. Let the "outing host" for the trip know you plan to participate, either directly or by sending an E-mail via for forwarding to the host.

In addition, before participating in an outing, read the Club outing protocol and read and sign (or be prepared to sign) the Release. Signing the Release is a requirement to participate in any Club activity except meetings.

Participation in Club activities does not require formal steps to become a "member" of the Club.

"Membership" --

As part of an effort to simplify the Club (and the work involved in it), the issues of "membership" and of the entire Club governance structure are being re-evaluated. The focus at present is only on having outings and periodic meetings, on doing what is needed to serve those specific functions, and on keeping the Club otherwise as simple as possible.
